Lee G. Hunter of 2141 Pennington Road, Warriors Mark Township, died unexpectedly July 21, 2005 in Warriors Mark.
He was born Sept. 5, 1925 in Berwinsdale, the son of Ruby (Wiley) Hunter and Nelson V. Hunter, both who preceded him in death.
On Dec. 23, 1944 in Tyrone, RD 4, he married Betty I. Nearhoof, who survives him.
Mr. Hunter is also survived by a sister, Viola Rowles of Olanta, PA, a niece and several nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
He attended the Spring Mount Church of the Brethren where he was a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and a Sunday school superintendent.
He was a veteran who served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 serving in Italy in the 300th General Hospital Motor Pool as Staff Sergeant.
He was a long-time member of the Warriors Mark-Franklin Volunteer Fire Company and Fire Police Unit. He served as fire company treasurer for more than 25 years. He was secretary/treasurer of the Spring Mount Cemetery for more than 30 years. He was also a member of the Warriors Mark Senior Citizens and the Tyrone Sportsmans Membership chairman.
He worked at the Tyrone Farm Bureau for 10 years and Atlantic Breeders Co-op as a technician for 27 years retiring in 1988. After retiring, he worked at Nearhoof Farms until 2002.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark on Sat., July 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Visitation on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Spring Mount Cemetery.
