Mrs. Margaret M. Kilmer, age 85, a guest at Epworth Manor and a former resident of Avondale and more recently of the Pennsylvania House, Tyrone and Hollidaysburg Manor, died Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 1:08 a.m. at Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Campus.
She was born August 5, 1920 in West Grove, Chester County, the daughter of Edgar Idell and Elizabeth B. Pierson Miller. On June 11, 1942 she was married to Llewellyn Kilmer who preceded her in death February 13, 1987. She is survived by a daughter, Linda, wife of Peter Schroeder of Naples, FL and a son, Craig M. and wife Patty Kilmer of Tyrone; three grandchildren: Per and wife Kim Schroeder of Ormond Beach, FL, Thor and wife Tiffany Schroeder of Wallingford, CT and Stephanie A. Kilmer of Tysons Corner, VA and two great-grandchildren: Gardiner and Courtney Schroeder. She was the last of her immediate family.
Mrs. Kilmer was a graduate of Kennett High School and had been employed as an assistant librarian at Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, retiring in 1967. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tyrone and the Avondale Women’s Club.
Funeral service for Mrs. Margaret M. Kilmer will be Sunday, August 14, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Robert E. Dunkelberger officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the time of service. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library, 1000 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone, Pa. 16686.
