Yesterday was a sunny day at Reservoir Park as area residents gathered for another successful Tyrone Community Labor Day picnic.
It was reported that the largest group of children ever enjoyed games held at the amphitheater and pool. The Schoch Hollow Band provided musical entertainment as everyone enjoyed an array of food prepared by area service organizations. Adult prize bingo was enjoyed by many as well.
The day ended with everyone watching as the children competed in watermelon and pie eating contests.
Winners were announced for special contests which included: “Longest Married” won by Margaret and Joe Tepsic, married for 60 years; “Newlyweds” won by Jonathan and Christine Miller, married for 30 days; “Largest Family” won by the Martinez family, 28 present; “Oldest Male” won by Pete Gindon, age 93; “Oldest Female” won by Hannah Isenberg, age 90; “Youngest Male” won by Braeton Miles, four months, three days old; “Youngest Female” won by Mari Lingenfelter, two months, 12 days old and “Farthest Traveled” won by Amy Liu I-Wei of Taiwan.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Joan McMullen of Bellefonte and Betsy Johnson of Port Matilda.
The 2005 Community Labor Day picnic sponsors and supporters are the reason each Labor Day picnic is such a success.

A special “thanks” goes out to park attendants, Fire Police, Tyrone Women’s Club, Boy Scout Troop No. 103, Cub Scouts No. 30, Tyrone Community Players, Schoch Hollow Band, Tyrone Borough, Rotary Club of Tyrone, Cary Simpson, Jean Dixon, Tyrone Elks No. 212 and especially to the public who attended.
It should also be noted that $66 was collected for “The Hurricane Relief Fund.”
