Tyrone Hospital will provide teddy bear check-ups at its booth at the Tyrone Rotary Club\’s Farm/City Day event to be held at Reservoir Park on Saturday.
Children are invited to bring their teddy bears, dolls or other special friends to have their vital signs checked. The vital signs check includes a blood pressure, temperature and pulse check.
Theresa Yanchetz, spokesperson for Tyrone Hospital, said healthcare exams can be traumatic, from a child\’s perspective.
\”We think the teddy bear check-ups bring the experience down to the child\’s level and may help lessen the anxiety some children associate with healthcare visits.\”
Yanchetz said the hospital did a full-blown children\’s hospital during its 50th anniversary event, and it was a big hit.
\”We thought it would be a good idea to offer the check-ups at Farm/City Day. \”
The Tyrone Hospital booth will be located near the bridge at Reservoir Park. The check-ups for children\’s teddy bears or other special friends will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to the public.
The 22nd annual Farm/City Day will be held rain or shine.
An assortment of crafters and vendors will set up booths as well as non-profit organizations will sell items as a fundraiser. There will also be a bake sale and other food items available for purchase.
Local fire company trucks are scheduled to be on display as well as farm equipment. Hay rides will be available and live entertainment will be on hand throughout the day.
For the kids, there will be a bouncy fun house and a live petting zoo.
A new 2005 Farm/City Day T-shirt is also available for purchase.
Because of the improved booth arrangement, all traffic must enter the park from Reservoir Drive.
