The Tyrone girls tennis team continued their long five-match road trip to open the season by taking the short journey south to Altoona for a match against Bishop Guilfoyle on Monday afternoon.
The young and inexperienced Lady Eagles won the number two doubles match for their first win of the season, but lost a 6-1 overall decision to Bishop Guilfoyle.
After being shut out by their first three opponents, the doubles team of Cynda Ormsby and Brittany Harker downed the BG team of Seidel and Wolf 8-4 in a pro set.
The number one doubles match was also very competitive before the BG team of
Rea and Perehinec came out on top 8-5.
“We were very competitive in both of our doubles matches today,” said Tyrone coach Mike Hample. “We are at Central this afternoon, before we finally get our first home match on Thursday.”
Tyrone (0-4) travels to Martinsburg for a match against Central today, then hosts a tough Altoona squad on Thursday, their first home match of the season after five consecutive matches on the road.
