The Bellwood-Antis junior high girls basketball team made the long trip to Southern Huntingdon on Monday afternoon, only to play like they were sleepwalking through the contest.
Undefeated Southern Huntingdon (6-0) scored an easy 40-23 victory behind 17 points from Elena Hummel and 12 more from Brittany Shields.
“Turnovers and missed lay-ups got us into too deep of a hole to dig out of,” explained Bellwood-Antis coach Chris Walker. “We played hard and never quit, but we need to cut down on the turnovers. We\’ll see how we bounce back today against Williamsburg. We\’ve yet to play a game where we played well for all four quarters. We keep having that one bad quarter that we can\’t overcome.”
Emily Sinisi led the Lady Blue Devils with nine points, but was the only B-A girls to score more than four points.
The inexperienced Bellwood-Antis girls (3-2) host undefeated Williamsburg (5-0) today on the B-A Middle School gymnasium court.
