The Tyrone girls volleyball team hosted the Bellefonte squad on Tuesday evening and both the Lady Eagle varsity and Jayvees came away with wins.
The Tyrone varsity won 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18 in three straight games to improve their league record to 5-1 and overall mark to 12-4.
Lindsay Christine had 12 service points for the Lady Eagles. Emily Lloyd had nine kills, Ashley Roth had 11 digs and four blocks and Kim Cherry added 19 assists.
“Everybody contributed, this was a total team effort,” commented Tyrone coach Dave Eckberg. “We did really well with the basics (serving and passing). This was probably one of the best offensive games we have played in the six years I have coached here. Give a lot of credit to sophomore Cassandra Zimmerman, who stepped in and served well and came through despite her inexperience.”
The Tyrone junior Varsity moved up to the positive side of the ledger with a two games-to-none win over Bellefonte. The Lady Eagle jayvees improved to 4-3 with 25-18 and 26-24 wins.
Next action for the Tyrone spikers will be Thursday at Philipsburg-Osceola with the junior varsity match starting at 6:30 p.m.
