Tyrone defeated Our Lady of Victory on Monday afternoon at home 23-22. This was a return engagement after Our Lady of Victory, from State College had defeated the Tyrone junior high girls 33-22 in Sept.
Paris Harden provided the winning margin by sinking a pair of two foul shots with eight seconds left to win it.
Teanna Kobuck had eight points to lead the Lady Eagles and Crystal Biddle added seven points.
“We executed well for most of the game and had a couple offensive sets we were confident in going to, so when OLV took the lead with about 20 seconds to go, we never panicked or took a timeout,” explained Tyrone coach Kerry Naylor. “Rachel Emigh just set up the offense and Paris was confident in getting to the basket and taking a big shot.
“Teanna was a real offensive leader for us today, and she has that ability. Crystal has really stepped up to become a leader for us, both with her shooting, and her shut-down defense.”
The Tyrone junior high girls basketball team concludes their season on Thursday by traveling to Bellwood-Antis for a 4 p.m. contest.
