Lane, a Penn State graduate, taught science and biology for 36 years in the Altoona School system. She has two adopted daughters and is now a great-grandmother. Her late mother and several aunts were Sinking Valley Grange members for many years.
She resides with her husband, Bob, in Sinking Valley.
Lecturer, Elizabeth Deihl, presented a candle lighting ceremony for Thanksgiving.
Marsha White, Sherri Pellos and Sandy Snyder respectfully read poems of faith, the harvest and Thanksgiving.
The Grangers recognized Madeline Carper for winning first place and best of show for her double wedding ring quilt at the Pennsylvania State Grange Session in West Middlesex on October 21-24. It took her six months to complete the quilt and everyone wanted to express their congratulations.
Peanut butter fudge made by Sherri Pellos won second place at the State Grange Session. She was also recognized at the meeting for her accomplishment in baking.
As a community service project, the Grangers will be making and delivering fruit baskets to the elderly on Saturday, November 26.
