Francis Clifford Miller, age 83, a guest at Epworth Manor and formerly of Cherry Avenue, Tipton, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 2:23 p.m. at the Manor.
He was born July 17, 1922 in Tyrone, the son of William H. and Gertrude Funk Miller. On December 25, 1942 at No. 2 Chapel at Sand Hill, Fort Benning, GA he was married to Zita E. Miller who preceded him in death February 10, 2000. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Noll and her former husband Gary of Tipton and Judy Eichelberger of Kodak, TN; four grandchildren: Richard Brown, David Anders (Mary), Patty Tisi (Albert) and Michael Brown (Teresa); and seven great-grandchildren: Alec Brown, Danielle Anders, Brock Anders, Amanda Brown, Bethaney Anders, Abbey Brown, and Dawson Brown. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Joseph Eichelberger and his brother William.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1941 and retired as a foreman from the Juniata shops of the PRR/Conrail after 45 years service. He served in the 712 Tank Battalion of the US Army in the European Theatre during World War II as a tank driver and received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in August 1944. He was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. No. 212, was a member of Howard Gardner Post American Legion No. 281, and was a member of Anderson Denny Post No. 4559 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed his family and football.
Funeral service for Francis Clifford Miller will be Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with his grandsons Michael W. Brown and Richard L. Brown officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. There will be an Elks Memorial service and a flag presentation service.
