Tyrone Area Cooperative Ministries met recently to schedule its Lenten Lunches for the upcoming Easter season. Lenten Lunches are scheduled to run from March 1 through April 5 at the Church of the Good Shepherd. The cost will be $5 per person.
Those attending the luncheons will be invited to bring a non-perishable grocery item each week. These items will be given to the Tyrone Area Food Bank. Twenty-five percent of the total income will be split between Joshua House, Green Tree Village and the Altoona Women\’s Shelter.
The first luncheon is scheduled for March 1 with First Presbyterian Church taking on the cooking duties. The speaker will be Pastor Bob Dunkelberger of the First Presbyterian Church with the topic, “God has Anointed us to…Proclaim Liberty to the Captives”.
On March 8, the cooking will be done by St. Matthew’s Church. The speaker is scheduled to be Pastor Bernie Bookhammer of Christ United Methodist Church, with the topic, “God has Anointed us to…Rebuild the Ruins”.
On March 15, the cooking will be carried out by Christ United Methodist Church. The speaker is scheduled to be Father Joseph Orr of St. Matthew’s Church, and the topic will be announced at a later date.
On March 22, the cooking will be done by Bald Eagle United Methodist Church. The speaker is scheduled to be Mayor Jim Kilmartin, with the topic, “God has Anointed us to…Preach Good News to the Poor”.
On March 29, the cooking will be done by the Church of Good Shepherd. The scheduled speaker is Pastor Michele Sommerville of Bald Eagle United Methodist Church, with the topic, “God has Anointed us to…Heal the Brokenhearted”.
The final luncheon is scheduled for April 5, with the cooking done by Wesley United Methodist Church. The scheduled speaker is Pastor Andrew Bradley of the Church of the Good Shepherd, with the topic, “God has Anointed us to…Set the Captive Free”.
The host MC is Andrew Bradley, and the song leader is Paul O\’Brien.
The TACM Good Friday service will be held on April 14, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend.
Tentatively, the Baccalaureate Service will be held on May 31 at 7 p.m., with the location yet to be determined.
The next TACM meeting is set for February 21 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. All pastors and ministers are welcome.
