Members of Tyrone American Legion Post No. 281 are continuing their “Soldiers for Soldiers” campaign, which raises money for children who have lost a parent during the war on terror.
The Legion is collecting empty ink jet cartridges and used cell phones to raise money for “American Legacy Scholarship” for the children of military personnel killed since September 11, 2001.
So far, the Tyrone American Legion has collected enough empty ink jet cartridges and used cell phones to equal $1,050 and has sent it in for the “Soldiers for Soldiers” campaign.
Post No. 281 Commander Fred Zanghi, Jr. wants to thank Tyrone American Legion adjutant, Bob Nein, and fellow committee members for packaging and sending the cell phones and ink jet cartridges. He would also like to thank The Daily Herald for the continued coverage for the campaign.
Tyrone American Legion Post No. 281 serves as the central collection location for the campaign. The Daily Herald is also a drop off point as well as the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce office.
For more information, visit the American Legion web site at www.legion.org and click on “Soldiers for Soldiers” or call Post No. 281 at 684-3342.
Also, members of the Legion have scheduled a benefit bingo on Wednesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. All proceeds raised from the bingo will be donated to the family of Jared Klein.
Members of the Legion held a benefit dance on January 28 for Jared and were able to raise funds then for his family members as well.
