Frederick A. DelGrosso Jr. was arraigned Friday on 43 felony counts stemming from incidents when he was employed at area car dealerships in Tyrone and Huntingdon.
DelGrosso, who worked as a floor manager at Stultz and Brown Pontiac in Huntingdon and then as a sales manager at Stultz and Brown Ford in Tyrone, was remanded to Blair County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $125,000 bond.
He is charged with 13 counts of theft by deception, 12 counts of receiving stolen property and 12 counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, along with three misdemeanors for keeping cash paid to the dealership in Blair County.
In Huntingdon County, charges include one count of deceptive or fraudulent business practices, two counts of theft by deception, one count of identity theft and one count of receiving stolen property, all third degree felonies, along with one count of forgery, a second degree felony. His hearing was immediately continued and is set for March 6 at 9 a.m.
A preliminary hearing in Blair County is set for 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
It is alleged that DelGrosso obtained vehicles from the dealership where he was employed in Tyrone and sold the automobiles to J & P Auto Mart in Altoona for cash. He did not reimburse Stultz and Brown Ford for the sales.
According to court records, between December 30, 2003 and June 16, 2004, DelGrosso supposedly sold 12 automobiles belonging to Stultz and Brown Ford to J & P Auto Mart. The vehicles ranged in value from $200 to $11,110. DelGrosso requested the purchases be paid for with cash.
Apparently, DelGrosso would periodically contact J & P Auto Mart saying Stultz and Brown Ford was looking to wholesale a vehicle they couldn’t sell at their lot. Then, DelGrosso would take the vehicles to J & P Auto Mart, where he requested cash for the purchases.
J & P Auto Mart co-owner Paul J. Scaramozzino wrote checks out to “cash”, putting the year, make and model of the vehicle he was to purchase, along with the last four digits of the VIN number on the memo line of the check. It was discovered that several vehicles were sold to J & P Auto Mart with no record of Stultz and Brown Ford receiving any money.
DelGrosso also sold several vehicles to individuals who gave him cash as a down payment. In one case, he also received two months worth of payments from an individual, for which he failed to furnish the dealership with the total amount of cash received.
Stultz and Brown Ford in Tyrone is seeking $79,634 in restitution.
