Once again, The Bald Eagle Sportsmen’s Club will be sponsoring a series of fishing derbies this year that are free to the area’s children.
The first derby this season is scheduled for Reservoir Park on April 15. The Albemarle Corporation Children’s Fishing Derby will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Contact Harry Raling at 684-2998 for more details.
Three other derbies will be held before the end of April.
The Frankstown Sportsmen’s Club Children’s Fishing Derby is scheduled for April 22 and is open for children up to and including 15 years of age. Registration opens at 9 a.m. with fishing set to start at 10 a.m. The club phone is 696-3171 or contact Paul Nash at 696-1048 for more information.
Two events are scheduled for April 29. The annual Tyrone Area Community Organization (TACO) Children’s Fishing Derby will be held at Reservoir Park. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon and is open to children up to and including age 15. More information on the event is available through Buddy Daughenbaugh at 684-3386.
The other April 29 event is the Port Matilda Children’s Fishing Derby, which is open to children up to and including 15-year-olds. Registration is from 8 to 9 a.m. and fishing is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact George Jackson at 692-4890 or Ted Enos at 692-8514.
The next derbies are scheduled in May with two events set for May 13. The Cresson Community Sportsmen’s Association Children’s Fishing Derby will be held from 8 a.m. to noon for children up to and including 15-years-olds. The event will be held at the club dam. The other May 13 event will be held at the Mosquito Creek Pond. The Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Association Children Fishing Derby is open to children up to and including age 15. Registration is from 9 to 10 a.m. with fishing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact Ron Sartori at 263-4831 or Lew Marrara at 263-4211.
There are two derbies scheduled for May 21. The Cooper Township Sportsmen’s Association Children’s Fishing Derby will be held at Cassonova Road and Six Mile Run Road near Winburne, PA. the event is open for children up to and including 12 years of age. Registration will be start at 12 noon with fishing from 1 to 4 p.m. Contact Jim Josephson at 345-4117 for more information.
The other May 21 event is the Gallitzin Sportsmen’s Association, Inc. Children’s Fishing Derby. The event will be held at the club dam and is open for children up to and including 15-years-olds. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the club’s phone at 886-5222 or Gary Lynch at 886-7644 for more information.
The last event in May is the Three Point Sportsmen’s Association Children’s Fishing Rodeo. It will be held at the club ponds near Clarence, PA. The derby is open to children up to and including age 12. The derby will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. No coolers are allowed. Contact Richard Biggans at 387-4248 for details.
The last of the 10 scheduled derbies is set for June 4 with the Bradford Township Park and Rec Board Children’s Fishing Derby. The event is open for children up to and including age 15.
