Tyrone Hospital is pleased to announce that Margaret Steward, RN has joined Tyrone Hospital as a nursing supervisor.
Steward has more than 16 years of experience as a nursing professional. She is a native of York, Pennsylvania.
Steward worked on Tyrone Hospital’s medical surgical nursing unit for some months prior to assuming her responsibilities as nursing supervisor.
As nursing supervisor, Steward’s duties include directing and supervising all licensed nurses and support staff and monitoring their assignments and activities. She will also assist with evaluation of nursing employee job performance.
She is also responsible for coordinating nursing services with other hospital departments to assure quality of patient care and will participate in a variety of quality improvement activities. In addition, the nursing supervisor serves as a representative of hospital administration as needed.
Steward is a graduate of the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Pennsylvania. She has also completed numerous continuing education courses in nursing at York College of Pennsylvania and Penn State University.
Her professional experience includes an intensive care nursing position at York Hospital. She also served as instructor for the licensed practical nursing program at the Hanover Area School District Adult Education Program, in Hanover, Pennsylvania. She was also an instructor in the nurse’s aide program at the Greater Altoona Area Career and Technology Center. In addition, she worked as staffing coordinator for Adara Health Care Staffing.
Steward resides in Altoona with her husband who is a Lutheran minister. During her off hours, she is very involved in church activities and enjoys a pet beagle named Rascal. The Stewards have two married sons in the Altoona area and three grandchildren with a fourth expected in April.
