A 20-year old Tyrone man, Curtis Ian Knarr, was arrested early this morning after he allegedly assaulted a woman and then left the scene in Snyder Township using her vehicle.
State police were called to the Cold Springs development on Teaberry Street around 1 a.m. to investigate a domestic dispute. Their investigation revealed Knarr had left the scene in a vehicle belonging to 22-year-old Nicole Lynn Snyder of Tyrone. Police later discovered Knarr operating the vehicle along State Route 453, near the village of Ironville. A brief pursuit ensued and ended when Knarr abandoned the vehicle along State Route 1014 in Ironville.
Knarr was found hiding in some tall grass along a river bank and was taken into custody without incident shortly before 2:30 this morning.
Knarr was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Joseph Moran. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing was set for Knarr on April 11 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller.
State police said Tyrone Borough Police provided substantial assistance in the investigation. Tyrone Chief Joseph Beachem was not available for comment this morning.
