The Bellwood-Antis track teams traveled to Blair County seat Hollidaysburg on Thursday to continue a tough pre-MAC Division schedule. The B-A boys and girls both pretty much controlled the meets to post victories.
The Blue Devil boys got double wins from standouts Brandon Pruznak (200 and 400 dashes) and Tony DelGrosso (shot put and discus) along the way to an 84-66 win over the Golden Tigers, and the Lady Blue Devils used a double from Ashley Mueller, who won both hurdles (100 intermediate hurdles and 300 low hurdles) to handle the Lady Tigers by a nearly identical 83-67 margin.
In the boys meet, Ben Hatch added a win in the 800, and Josh Ervine in the 1600, Jamey Rimmey in the 3200, Dustin Harris in the javelin and Ricky Shawley in the pole vault also claimed first places. The 3200 relay team composed of Jeremy Tomchick, Dustin Pruznak, Eli Colyer and Ben Hatch also was victorious.
Bellwood-Antis (3-2) swept the 1600 with Eli Colyer second, and Dustin Pruznak third in the 1600, and Joe Earnest second and Josh Peters third, in the javelin and had at least two placewinners in the 200, 400, 800, 3200, 110 high hurdles, 300 IM hurdles, long jump, shout put and discus to provide both depth and points.
“We had a good team effort,” said Bellwood-Antis boys coach Nick Lovrich. “We stressed to the kids that was what we needed. Anytime you beat a Triple-A school you feel pretty good about yourself.
“We got two wins from Tony and Brandon and we got sweeps in both the 1600 and javelin. We got points from a number of our young kids, like Joe Earnest and Josh Peters in the javelin, which is always a good thing.”
The Lady Blue Devils (2-3) received wins from Jannelle Wilt in the 100, Lauren Carter in the 200, Chelsea Wilson in the 400, Sarah Bell in the 3200, Lauren Leap in the long jump and Heather Novak in the triple jump, in addition to Mueller’s double. In addition, the B-A girls won all three relay events. In the 400 relay, it was Leap, Carter, Erica Greene and Mueller.
