Bellwood-Antis ended their track and field season with a flourish on Thursday at Huntingdon.
The B-A boys demolished Huntingdon 126-24 and Mount Union 141-9 to run their season record to 11-2, while the Lady Blue Devils took Mount Union apart 126-23 and easily handled Huntingdon 91-59 to improve to 8-5.
Brandon Pruznak led the Blue Devil boys with victories in the 200 and 400 dashes, high jump and long jump. Adam Mueller added victories in both hurdles and Tony DelGrosso won the shot put and discus and took a second place in the javelin to teammate Dustin Harris. Ben Hatch won the 800, Josh Ervine won the 1600, Jamie Rimmey won the 3200, Troy Brunner took the triple jump, and Ricky Shawley won the pole vault. The Bellwood-Antis boys also won all three relay races. The only event the Blue Devils didn’t win was the 100 dash, where Harris was second and Carl Weiser was third for B-A.
The 400 relay team consisted of Harris, Evan Celmo, Lance Hughes and Weiser. The 1600 team was Tyler Elvey, Kyle Canfield, Patrick McCloskey and Hatch, and the 3200 relay team had Eli Colyer, Hatch, Ervine and Jeremy Tomchick.
“We had lots of our kids step up today and do very well,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Nick Lovrich. “The kids all work hard in practice to get the seconds and thirds that make a difference in our meets. Carl Weiser. is a senior who got the chance, and got a couple of thirds in the 100 and long jump and ran a leg on our 400 relay team that won, and Kyle Canfield and Lance Hughes got us important points.”
The Lady Blue Devils dominated the running and jumping events against Huntingdon and Mount Union, sweeping the 100 and 200 dashes, winning the 400 and 1600 relays and taking two of the three places in the 400, 800, both hurdles and high jump and long jump, triple jump and discus.
Erica Greene and Jannell Wilt tied for first in the 100, Wilt won the 200 outright, Lauren Leap won both the high jump and long jump. Ashley Mueller was first in the 100 IM hurdles and Heather Greene was second, and then in the 300 low hurdles, the pair exchanged places with Greene winning and Mueller placing second. Sarah Bell won the 1600 and Chelsea Wilson won the 400.
Leap, Lauren Carter, Erica Greene and Mueller won the 400 relay and Carter, Kelley Killinger, Leap and Wilson won the 1600 relay.
