Barry Halbritter, Duncansville, held the winning ticket – 313 – to win the 2006 Mercedes C280 Sedan.
The highlight of the Agency’s Summer Party, held June 1 at the Laurel Lodge, Duncansville was the 7 p.m. announcement of the Pennsylvania Lottery’s three-digit number. Barry and his wife, Marlene, had the option to choose the car, or a $30,000 cash prize.
“We chose the car and my wife quickly initiated the replacement of her Suzuki with the black sedan,” said Barry, who purchased tickets in all the 13 series from 013 – 913.
Barry has been an ardent supporter of Home Nursing Agency and has sold close to 200 Mercedes Moment tickets over the past three years. Barry admits to having a premonition two days prior when he won a Sheetz gas card after a drawing of his lucky number – 13.
“I figured if I had won gas, I would need a new car to put it in,” Barry added. He was also pleased that the event raised more than $50,000 to benefit Home Nursing Agency’s Hospice and Bereavement Services.
Barry and Marlene Halbritter served as Honorary Chairpersons of this year’s Mercedes Moment.
“I’ve been a steadfast supporter of Home Nursing Agency for many years and selling Mercedes Moment tickets has always been quite easy because everyone knows that every cent raised goes directly toward caring for the Agency’s hospice patients and providing bereavements services to children and families,” said Barry, also a board member of Home Nursing Agency’s Friends of the Foundation.
Since its inception three years ago, Mercedes Moment has raised over $150,000 to support Home Nursing Agency’s mission of assisting individuals and families throughout Bedford, Blair, Centre, Huntingdon, Cambria, Franklin and Fulton counties to access the care they deserve, especially those with limited means. Home Nursing Agency’s Hospice team consists of caring professionals who provide support, relief and companionship for patients experiencing a life-limiting illness so that they may live as comfortably as possible.
Sponsors of Home Nursing Agency’s Mercedes Moment included Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, M & T Bank, Lakemont Park, Home Health Resource, Kopp Drug, Inc., Midstate Tool & Supply Inc., The Barash Group, McQuaide Blasko Attorneys at Law, Sheetz, Inc., Teeter Insurance, Wolf Furniture, Palliative Therapeutics, New Look Uniform Shop, Reilly Creppage & Co.
