Gospel and inspirational music as well as a movie are on tap for area residents as the Tyrone Regional Arts Council summer concert series continues.
Tonight, the inspirational sounds of the EBC Praise Team will be featured in the “Fun Friday” series. Beginning at 7 p.m., this group of local musicians will offer the best in contemporary Christian hits.
Band members include Larry Sprankle and Luther Sprankle on percussion, Bill and Sarah Ewing on vocals, Sallie Donner on bass, Paula Rodkey on keyboard and Brett Rodkey on guitar. The EBC Praise Team began performing five years ago and has, since that time, offered live inspirational music to audiences throughout the region.
The Fun Friday schedule also includes: July 7, Michael O’Brian Band; July 14, Dennie Huber: Music & Magic and July 21, Family Movie at dusk.
Following the concert this evening, the second “Fun Family Outdoor Movie” will begin in the M & T lot next to Joybeans Coffee Shop at dusk. There will be snacks, drinks and gifts on hand. Bring out a chair or blanket and join together at the M & T Bank parking lot for an evening of fun and friends.
Outdoor movies are made possible by a joint partnership between the Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Tyrone Arts Council.
Although licensing laws do not permit the use of the movie title, the film is about a penguin’s search for a pebble to present to his lifelong mate resulting in a funny adventure.
In the event of rain, the concert and movie will be held in the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Tenth Street.
Concert programs are made possible by a grant from the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and Tyrone Borough. For additional information, contact the ArtsLine office at 684-ART2.
