An 18-year-old Tyrone driver, Adam Pluebell, and several other people escaped injury in a three-vehicle accident on State Route 220 at the Fowler Hollow Road intersection in Taylor Township, Centre County on Saturday at 3:50 p.m.
Philipsburg-based State Police said the crash happened when a car driven by 20-year-old Brenden Jeziorski and Pluebell’s pick-up truck were both traveling north on the road.
Pluebell slowed to turn left onto Fowler Hollow Road and Jeziorski failed to observe the truck slowing. Jeziorski put on his brakes, but was unable to stop. The right front of Jeziorski’s car hit the left rear of Pluebell’s truck. The impact caused the rear of Jeriorski’s car to slide into the southbound lane of 220. At this point, the back of Jeziorski’s vehicle struck the driver’s side door of a car operated by 42-year-old William L. Boyles of Altoona.
The impact caused Jeziorski’s car to roll over on its roof and it came to a rest in the southbound lane of 220.
Jeziorski’s car and Pluebell’s pick-up had severe damage and had to be towed from the scene. Boyles car had minor damage. All the occupants in the three vehicles including passengers in Pluebell’s truck and Boyles’ car were all wearing seat belts.
Police said Jerziorski was cited for a violation of driving at a safe speed.
State police were assisted by Port Matilda Fire and EMS, Bald Eagle Fire Company and Eagle Towing. Traffic was limited to one lane for 45 minutes because of the crash.
