Tamara J. “Tammy” Woodring, 48, of P.O. Box 126, Tipton, died Thursday afternoon at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a lengthy illness.
She was born October 2, 1957 in Tyrone a daughter of Alfred “Jack” and Veta (Patton) Woomer.
She was married June 15, 1996 in Tyrone to Charles E. “Chuck” Woodring.
She is survived by her husband in Tipton and two sons: Eric Lower and Nathan Rezac of Tyrone; three grandchildren: Noah, Cassidy and Malia Taylor; her parents, Jack and Veta Woomer of Vail; four brothers and one sister: Larry Woomer (Josy) of Bald Eagle, Michael Woomer of Tipton, Jack Woomer (Joy) of Tyrone, Mark Woomer (Karen) of Vail and Vivian Shauf (Travis) of Grazierville and several nieces and nephews.
She and her husband were foster parents and are raising two nephews and a niece in the home, Trey, Jared and Tori Woomer.
She was preceded in death by a brother Matthew Woomer.
Also, special friends, Dick and Cathy Grove and Billie and Bill Locke of Bellwood.
She was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School and a member of the American Cancer Society.
She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed camping, yard sales, games with children and especially family gatherings.
She worked as a nurses aide at Greentree Village in Bald Eagle, and worked at the Little Red School House in Bellwood.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor Ron Khoury officiating. Interment will follow at Baughman Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
