Blair Co. Assoc. for the Blind health calendar
The September health calendar has been announced for the Blair County Association for the Blind, and is as follows: September 5, “Leader and Therapy Dogs” at the Tyrone Senior Center at 11 a.m., and September 25, “Leader and Therapy Dogs” at the Bellwood Senior Center at 10:30 a.m.

NARFE
Members of Chapter 328, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association held its annual picnic at noon August 11 at American Legion Park, Hollidaysburg.
A picnic lunch was served by Rick Conway from the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center. Members played bingo after the lunch.
The chapters next meeting will be at noon on September 8 at King’s Restaurant, 3000 Sixth Avenue, Altoona. All active and retired Federal employees and spouses are welcome.

Tyrone Community Labor Day picnic
The Tyrone Community Labor Day picnic will be held Monday, September 4 at Reservoir Park, beginning at 9 a.m.
Any non-profit organization may have a food booth to sign up. Adult prize bingo will be ran by the Tyrone Elks. Youth land and water games with cash prizes are sponsored by local businesses. Entertainment will be provided by Kip Woodring. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Rotary chicken barbecue tickets and women’s Club rib dinner tickets are available in advance from members and the chamber office. Soccer booster meeting
There will be a TAHS Boys Soccer Booster meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Tyrone High School. Topics to be discussed include officers, by-laws, and fundraisers.
Class of 1942
The classmates of 1942, Tyrone High School, will hold their monthly breakfast at Joe’s Place, Vail, on Wednesday, September 6 at 9 a.m.
All classmates and guests are urged to attend as State Representative Jerry Stern will be the honored guest.

Buffet dinner
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will host a buffet dinner on Friday, September 8 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The dinner will feature turkey, beef, noodles, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, corn, Waldorf salad, cranberry sauce and roll. The dinner is free for children age four and under. The WMUMC is handicapped accessible. Anyone with questions can contact the church office at 632-6906.

Evangelistic crusade
Evangelistic crusade at God’s Missionary Church, Route 22, Alexandria will feature the Dan Durkee family from Penns Creek. The event will be held September 8-10. Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

‘Then and Now: A Living History Timeline’
The country was founded in conflict and the armed forces of the United States have answered the call to duty for over 250 years.
Visit this inaugural Living History Timeline of uniforms and equipment from the Colonial Period through 21st century. Fashion show begins at 1 p.m. with a weapons demonstration at 2 p.m.
The event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg, PA, three miles east of State College.

Church yard sale
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will hold a yard sale on Saturday, September 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. $1/bag begins at noon. Yard sale items will also be available on Friday during the buffet dinner. Anyone with questions can contact the church office at 632-6906.

Car wash
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church Youth Fellowship will hold a car wash on Saturday, September 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Benefits the upcoming fall and winter youth activities. Anyone with questions can contact the church office at 632-6906.
Chicken barbecue
The Warriors Mark-Franklin Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday, September 9 at the fire hall, lcated on Route 550 in Warriors Mark.
The barbecue starts at 4 p.m. Take-outs are available.

Allegheny Chorale invitation
The Allegheny Chorale is beginning its new season and are looking for men and women and Sr. High students who just love to sing.
There are no auditions. Interested individuals are invited to join in on September 12 at the chorus room at the Tyrone Area High School. Practice begins at 7 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m.
New members will be accepted until October 3.

Chicago Rivet retirees
The Chicago Rivet retirees will hold their monthly breakfast at Joe’s Place at 8:30 a.m.
Meetings are scheduled for the rest of the year, including September 14, October 12, November 9 and December 14.

Evening with the Arts
An Evening with the Arts, sponsored by the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce, will have art exhibits and artists displayed at three locations.
On September 14, start at the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library for appetizers then go on to Burley’s Restaurant for dinner and finally wrap up the evening at Gardner’s Ice Cream Parlor for coffee or tea and dessert, all while previewing the local talent.

All members and guests of the Tyrone High School class of 1943 are invited to meet for lunch on Thursday, September 14 at noon at Ponderosa, Altoona. Please plan to attend.

Sight and Sound Theatre trip
The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church is sponsoring a trip to the Sight and Sound Theaters in Lancaster for the “Miracle of Christmas” show on Tuesday, November 14.
Stirring live vocals performed by a cast of 60, live animals, magnificent staging and special effects, and a heart-soaring finale highlights this joyfully reverent tribute to the birth of “God with us”, Immanuel.
Reservations are now being accepted. Money will be due in full by September 15.
