A special enforcement detail was held in Altoona and northern Blair County at the start of the weekend.
A state police press release said the city saturation/roving DUI enforcement was conducted starting on Friday and lasting into Saturday. Police focused on areas of prior DUI collisions, and past DUI arrests, as well as other violations.
In all, 46 vehicles were stopped and eight motorists were arrested for DUI. Forty traffic citations were issued and several of the motorists stopped had suspensions including DUI suspensions. There were three misdemeanor arrests, one for false ID and two for drug violations. There was one bench warrant and three non-traffic citations.
Also, there were 27 warnings issued to drivers during the enforcement activity.
