The Bellwood-Antis girls volleyball team has taken some lumps in recent matches. First on Sept. 14, Juniata Valley stopped the Lady Blue Devils incredible 75-game regular season win streak, although Bellwood-Antis did win the match three games to one for their 33rd straight regular season match. Then on Sept. 18, Bishop Guilfoyle broke that match streak by defeating B-A three games to one.
On Wednesday however, in the B-A High School gymnasium, the Bellwood-Antis varsity volleyball squad began a new streak with a three-games to none triumph over West Branch. That kept the Lady Blue Devils last remaining streak intact. The B-A girls have never lost in Mountain Athletic Conference play, improving the MAC mark to 4-0 this year and 40-0 over the four-year existence of the MAC.
Bellwood-Antis won 25-18, 25-6 and 25-21 to improve to 5-1 overall.
Chelsea Wilson paced the Lady Blue Devils with 24 service points, a dozen kills and three blocks. Kristyn Ginter had seven kills, Lauren Leap added 20 assists, and Andrea Gardner had nine digs for B-A.
West Branch won the junior varsity match in two games 25-21 and 25-19. The Lady Blue Devil junior varsity will participate in the Penns Manor Invitational on Saturday beginning play at 9 a.m.
The Bellwood-Antis volleyball team will travel to Moshannon Valley for a MAC Division III match on Monday, Sept. 25.
