William H. “Bill” Cox, 85, of 1206 Cameron Ave., Tyrone, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, October 1, 2006 at his residence.
He was born May 22, 1921 in Tyrone the son of Conrad L. and Edna B. (Bonsell) Cox Lehman.
He was married January 12, 1944 at Dade Co., Pa. to Eleanor R. Kirkpatrick.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor of 62 years marriage; four daughters: Mary Anna Sieber of Mount Union, Susan Mosemann of Tyrone, Patty Shellenberger (Ken) of Tyrone and Nancy Page (Robert) of RD, Garrett, Pa.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Matthew R.C. Church where he was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop No. 100 for many years. He had served as Camp Director at Camp Anderson, attended a Philmont Camp and also helped with Troop No. 26.
He was honorably discharged after WWII service in the Army Air Force as a Staff Sgt. and Drill Instructor.
He retired from the Header Dept. and Quality Control from the Chicago Rivet and Machine Co., Tyrone, after 32 years service.
Following his retirement he was a loyal associate of the Derman Funeral Home, Inc. for 20 years from 1982 to 2002.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, Tyrone, with Rev. Fr. Joseph T. Orr as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Flag Presentation.
Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Wake Service will be held Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
