Ron Hildebrand, Mary Ann Kurtz, Kate Coltabaugh, Patrick Stalter and Bill O’Brien The Tyrone Community Players are putting some final touches on their upcoming production of “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline.” The show debuts at the Tyrone Elks Lodge this week with dinner theatre shows Friday and Saturday, August 10 and 11. Thursday’s ‘show-only’ performance is sold out!
For ticket information or to be put on a waiting list for Thursday’s show, call the TCP office at 684-ART2.
Kate Coltabaugh is reviving her portrayal of iconic country singer.
“We’re so glad Katie has recovered enough from her accident (last March) to be able to do the show,” director Cindy Bennett said. “We’ve made some minor accommodations, like having ‘Patsy’ sit on a stool to sing rather than stand, but nothing major.”
The back-up singers in “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” include long-time volunteer fire fighter and TCP veteran Bill O’Brien and the rookie Patrick Stalter of Altoona.
“If ever there were no bookends, it’s those two,” Bennett said. “But, they work well together and the quartet sounds great. It’s hard to believe Patrick is just 14 – and Bill is well beyond his teenage years!”
TCP veterans Ron Hildebrand and Mary Ann Kurtz round out the quartet.
“Ron and Mary Ann are fun to work with,” Bennett continued. “They take our quartet close to the level of the Jordanaires! We’re lucky Mary Ann is able to sing with us – she’s so active in the Rivet’s Relay for Life Team and her church choir. Ron has always been a trooper – whether it was in ‘A Little Night Music,’ ‘The Music Man’ as a member of the barbershop quartet, or as one of the fathers in ‘The Fantastiks,’” Bennett said.
Ticket sales for the TCP show have been steady, with Thursday’s show only performance being sold out! A limited number of tickets are available for Friday’s show, but good seats at the Saturday, August 11 performance are guaranteed. Call the TCP office 684-ART2 (2782) to make your reservations.
