Tickets for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society’s sixth annual “Satan’s Revenge Chilifest” can be purchased at The Daily Herald office located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Tyrone.
The event raises funds to help homeless animals at CPHS and pits area restaurants and pubs against each other in a chili cook-off scheduled for Sunday, November 19 at Burgi’s Roundhouse, Altoona with trophies, plaques and “bragging rights” as prizes.
Racer’s and the Bull Pen are both competing this year, along with other area restaurants.
The event will also feature raffle prizes and a 50/50 with entertainment provided by local favorite “Zupe”.
Top prize at the cook-off (“Best Bowl”) is a traveling trophy awarded to the best chili as chosen by a celebrity judging panel. The “People’s Choice” award is given on the basis of votes as cast by party-goers.
The event always features a celebrity judging panel, which will again include The Herald’s own Sam J. Zema.
Tickets for the all-you-can eat event, which begins at 7 p.m. are $12. Besides the Herald office, tickets can be purchased at the CPHS Shelter (1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd.), the CPHS Thrift Shop (220 E. Walton Ave., Altoona), Chris’ Hallmark (Pleasant Valley Shopping Center), V.I.P. Pets/Aquarium and all competing restaurants/pubs.
All proceeds from the event go to help the homeless animals at the CPHS shelter.
