There are some special plans in the works for the upcoming weeks at Christ United Methodist Church in Tyrone.
First, a theme basket auction will be held Sunday, November 12 at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be available. The theme baskets to be auctioned were put together and donated by the church family.
Then next Sunday, November 19, it will be Anniversary, Apple and Appreciation Luncheon Sunday at the church.
In celebration of the 151st anniversary of the Christ United congregation, worship service will include the re-dedication of the newly renovated sanctuary.
Church members and visitors can also enjoy the traditional “Apple Sunday” gathering of canned goods, dry goods and paper products. These donations are collected for the Tyrone Area Food Bank. Church goers are asked to bring items to be placed in specially marked baskets at the front of the sanctuary. In exchange for a donation, individuals will receive a bright, shiny apple.
Following the service, at noon, there will be an appreciation luncheon for everyone to gather and share a special time of fellowship and thanksgiving. There will be no charge for the dinner but a free will offering will be received.
Also, looking ahead, a new church directory is in the works for December. The date for the photo sessions for members of the Christ United Methodist Church Family is Thursday, December 7. Anyone who has not yet scheduled a photo session should do so following worship services this weekend.
Christ United Methodist Church is located at 1359 Pennsylvania Avenue. Services are held every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with church school beginning at 10:30 a.m. There are classes for all ages.
