Tyrone Hospital is pleased to welcome Jack F. Rocco, MD and William Andrew (Andy) Tyndall, MD, Ph.D of University Orthopedics Center (UOC) to the Tyrone Hospital Medical Staff. Dr. Tyndall and Dr. Rocco join Dr. Christopher S. McClellan also of UOC, in providing orthopedic care at Tyrone.
Dr. Rocco is a specialist in General Orthopedic Surgery. His training and experience include unique competencies in sports medicine, joint replacement, and hand surgery.
Upon receiving his undergraduate degree in behavioral neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Rocco received his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine in 1992. He completed his internship and residency at Temple University Hospital in 1997. From 1997-2001, Dr. Rocco served active duty in Misawa, Japan as a Major in the United States Air Force. He was in private practice in both Rhode Island and Maryland before joining UOC.
Dr. Rocco is board certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a Fellow Member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also a Certified Independent Medical Examiner and a member of the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society.
During his career, Dr. Rocco has published numerous articles on various orthopedic topics in periodicals for medical professionals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, JBJS-A, British Journal of Hand Surgery, American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Psychopharmacology.
He resides in Altoona with his wife Kari Ann and their daughter Sophia. They enjoy traveling, sports, skiing and boating.
Dr. Tyndall is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. Dr. Tyndall completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in 2003. His training and experience include unique competencies in the treatment of knee, shoulder, elbow, and sports injuries.
After receiving his Medical Degree from Thomas Jefferson University and his Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Tyndall completed his internship and residency at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-University Hospital in 2002.
Dr. Tyndall is board certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a Fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Tyndall is also a member of Arthroscopy Association of North America, Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society
He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including but not limited to the, American Society for Cell Biology Travel Award, New Jersey Orthopedic Society Resident Research Award, American Orthopedic Association Zimmer Travel Award for Orthopedics, New Jersey Medical Society-Department of Orthopedics-Resident Research Award.
Dr. Tyndall has also published a variety of articles on orthopedic topics that have appeared medical periodicals including the Journal of Cell Physiology, EMBO Journal, Journal of Cell Biochemistry, Oncogene, Clinical Orthopedics, and the American Journal of Orthopedics.
He has also presented at the Orthopedic Research Society Annual Meeting, Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons Annual Meeting, New Jersey Orthopedic Society Annual Meeting, American Orthopedics Association-Residents Meeting, and NY-OREF Resident Research Symposium.
Dr. Tyndall resides in Hollidaysburg, PA with his wife Christine and their three children. They enjoy traveling, sports, and skiing.
