Sunshine Surplus Outlet, located five miles south of Tyrone off Route 453, across from Windy Hill Furniture, is now open.
The business officially opened on November 8 and has been quite busy ever since.
Windy Hill Furniture owner David C. Karr got the idea for the surplus store when he decided he wanted diversity in his business. He converted what was the original woodshop for Windy Hill into the current storeroom. The woodshop was moved to accommodate the new store.
With an ever changing product line, the store has hardware, houseware, beauty products, toys, sporting goods, clothing, shoes and food to mention a few. There is also a recent shipment of cookware that just arrived.
According to manager Ralph Harris, there’s a little bit of everything and it’s constantly changing as new shipments come in.
“We have everything under the sun,” said Harris of the variety and constant rollover.
The store is catering to the Tyrone, Bellwood and Huntingdon market and with its constantly changing inventory, there’s something for everyone. With Christmas right around the corner, it’s a great place to check out, especially when trying to stretch that Christmas budget.
Sunshine Surplus employs four individuals including Ralph Harris, manager; Erin Baldassarre, assistant manager; Angie Baney and Jamie Walls. The store is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store phone number is 684-3366.
