The Blotter

Dec 21, 2006

An Indiana, PA man was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Bell-Tip Road last Friday at 6:30 p.m.
State police said a car driven by 21-year-old Guy Michael Reitz was southbound on the road and was traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle crested a hill and became airborne.
The car slammed back onto the road. Police said there was evidence of gouge marks left in the pavement.
The car continued south in the oncoming lane and eastern berm, skidding as it traveled. It narrowly missed a large tree on the east side of the road. The car then moved back to the middle of the road and spun clockwise across both lanes and flipped onto its roof.
Two witnesses said they saw the car roll four or five times before coming to a final rest in a field at the corner of Bell-Tip Road and Danbeck Road. Excessive speed and driver inexperience contributed to the crash according to state police.
Reitz was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. A passenger in his car, 21-year-old David William Sabol, Whitehall, was also wearing a seat belt and suffered a minor injury.
Reitz’s car had severe damage and was towed from the scene. Reitz was to be cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
