Mary L. Gonder, 79, a guest of Valley View Home, formerly of Tyrone RD 2, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
She was born in Antis Township on December 14, 1927, a daughter of the late William A. and Bertha (Douglass) Oswald. She married Nicholas Gonder. He died July 10, 1985.
Surviving are sons William A. Sr. and wife Delores of Altoona, Richard N. and wife Christine of Sinking Valley, and George E. of Altoona; grandchildren William (Patty) Gonder, Amy, Garrett, and Grant Gonder; great-grandchildren Trenton and Darin Gonder; nieces Mary Holley, Patricia Brooks, and Linda M. Thompson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Roselyn A. Kruise.
Mary was a lifetime member of the Sinking Valley Grange No. 484 where she was an active member of the ladies activity and was named “Granger of the Year” in 2002. She was also a lifetime member of the Janesville V.F.W. and a member of the Bellwood Eagles Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and doing crafts.
Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, January 11 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2007 at the funeral home with Rev. John Winesickle officiating. Interment at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
