The winter weather has just begun for our area, and now is the perfect time to stock up on needed winter clothing items.
Those in need are reminded that the last three days to get free coats, hats, gloves and scarves will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, January 23, 24 and 25 at the Tyrone Salvation Army Service Center, 908 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone.
Doors will open at 10 a.m. and close at 12:30 p.m. all three days.
The Tyrone Salvation Army had an eventful past year, establishing a new location at 908 Pennsylvania Avenue and upgrading its status from service unit to service center.
Volunteer chairperson, Bob Maser, said the Salvation Army Service Center would like to thank the Tyrone area community for the support with clothes, toys and finances over the past year.
Along with helping those in need with their household bills, the Tyrone Salvation Army is able to furnish clothing and food items.
The Tyrone Salvation Army always accepts clothing and food items. It also accepts appliances, bedding, etc.
Monetary contributions can be mailed to: Salvation Army Service Center, P.O. Box 142 Tyrone, PA 16686 and can also be dropped off at the 908 Pennsylvania Avenue location. The phone number is 684-1664.
The Salvation Army Service Center winter hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
