Bellwood-Antis was able to stay with the Bishop Guilfoyle girls for the first quarter, trailing just 15-10 after one, but then the Lady Marauders showed why their are the No. 2 ranked Single-A girls team in the state. BG took the Lady Blue Devils to school, outscoring Bellwood-Antis 51-15 over the final three quarters, using a deep and athletically talented roster that went far beyond just their five starters for a 66-25 win.
Bishop Guilfoyle (21-1) opened a 5-0 lead at the Lady Marauders Pleasant Valley gym, before Liz Erickson hit two buckets to close the deficit to 5-4. Victoria Lombardo added a basket to keep the game manageable at 7-6 and another field goal by Erickson and one final bucket by Lombardo kept the B-A girls close at the end of the first quarter.
Bishop Guilfoyle outscored Bellwood-Antis 8-2 to begin the second period, with a basket by Erickson the only Lady Blue Devil score. Following a timeout, Erickson hit one of two foul shots and Shalee Hunter added a basket to draw B-A back to within eight, 23-15. BG finished the half on another run to go into the locker room at halftime leading 32-16.
The Lady Marauders continued to pile up the score in the third quarter, opening up a 40-16 advantage before Erickson, who led the Lady Blue Devils with 12 points, hit a basket. Brittany Webb bombed in a three-pointer, but the BG girls led 50-21 after three quarters.
“Bishop Guilfoyle played exactly like you would expect the number two team in the state to perform,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Ali Stodart.
Bishop Guilfoyle added the first 11 points of the fourth quarter, before Shalee Hunter’s basket broke the BG momentum, but the Lady Marauders continued to run away from Bellwood-Antis. Lombardo finished out the Lady Blue Devils; scoring.
Erickson added six rebounds and two blocks, and Hunter led the Lady Blue Devils with 13 boards and added four points.
B-A (7-16) will close out the season at Bald Eagle Area on Tuesday. The Junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Bishop Guilfoyle won the junior varsity game 54-15.
Jenna Nevling scored six points to lead the Lady Blue Devil junior varsity.
Shannon Hite led BG with nine points.
