Ernest E. Whetstine, 62 of Tipton died early Saturday morning, February 3, 2007 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
Ernie was born April 20, 1944 in Altoona, a son of the late Russell N. and Dorothy M. (Shultz) Whetstine. He married Lynette Stockwell on January 8, 1966 in Bedford, Mass.
Surviving are his wife, Lynette; a son: Scott E. and wife, Angela M. of Holly, MI; daughter: Lisa M. Perry and husband, Michael J. of Bellwood; grandchildren: Samantha and Gabrielle Whetstine and Nicholas, Matthew and Alex Perry; sisters: Betty Evans and husband, Jack and Janet Cherry and husband, Leo all of Bellwood; brother: Russell N. Whetstine and wife, Kathie of Levittown and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ernie was a 1962 graduate of Altoona Area High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1962 to 1966.
He was employed as a distribution manager at Roaring Spring Blank Book, Roaring Spring.
Ernie loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Sinking Valley Country Club where he spent time perfecting his game of golf, his true passion. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed reading and sudoku puzzles.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 7 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Robert Ludrowsky and Rev. Robert Kennedy officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations in Ernie’s memory may be made to the Bellwood Antis Public Library.
