The list of candidates for Blair County Commissioner has increased once again.
Rodney Bohner, a Vietnam Veteran serving the United States Marine Corps. and former Lieutenant in the Altoona Police Department will seek the Democratic nomination for County Commissioner in the May primary.
Bohner also has served in various positions in the Altoona and Blair County staff. He has served as Emergency Management Director for the City of Altoona, Administrator of the West Nile Virus Program for Blair County, and Blair County Director of Emergency Services.
In a press release from Bohner, it states that his strong overall knowledge and understanding of County government are tremendous assets to perform the tasks of the Office of Blair County Commissioner and serve the community to the best of his abilities. Bohner states that he has worked with all levels of County government, including the Court System, District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, Adult and Juvenile Probation, Children and Youth Services, Office of Costs and Fines, Offices on Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Personnel Office, Purchasing Department, Controller’s Office, Treasurer’s Office, Highway Department, County Recycling, County Planning, Emergency Management, the 911 Center, Ag Extension Office, and the Blair County Airport.
Bohner believes that his understanding of these offices and their various strengths and weaknesses will enable him to serve Blair County to the fullest extent possible.
He feels that the crucial issues in this year’s election are the County budget, the continuing war on crime and drugs, providing emergency services, and Court House security.
He will join incumbent County Commissioner Donna Gority on the Democratic ballot.
