First Assembly of God Church in Tyrone recently hosted its annual Mission’s Convention.
First Assembly is a very active mission’s church, hosting annually a spring and fall mission’s emphasis.
The church has been recognized as one of the top 300 Assembly of God churches in the nation in per capita missions giving and currently supports 38 foreign missionaries and several stateside home missions’ endeavors.
The theme for this year’s convention was “But God”, based on Acts 3:15 NIV, “You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.”
The convention featured four different missionaries and fields including Jeff Book, Todd LaBute, Fred Howsare and Fred Kovach.
While the recent Mission’s Convention just ended, members and visitors still have an opportunity to hear from a special guest speaker at First Assembly.
On Sunday, March 11, missionary speaker Jack Belin will visit the church. First Assembly has supported Belin in his missions for many years. Everyone is invited to attend morning service to hear Belin share his stories about what he has been doing all over the world.
Besides the upcoming guest speaker, another special evening is planned for Sunday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. when the Olde Fashioned Hymn Sing returns.
According to church members, the hymn sings are always well attended because there are so many talented people who enjoy participating. Gospel music uplifts the body, mind and soul, so come out and spend the evening singing or even just clapping your hands or tapping your feet along with the music.
And, of course, as always, the men’s breakfast promises to be an enjoyable get together on Saturday, March 10 at 8 a.m. at Joe’s Place. Participants can order from the menu or eat from the breakfast bar. So, plan to attend this time of fellowship and feel free to bring a friend.
