With plans in the works for the annual library fundraiser concert, staff and volunteers at Tyrone-Snyder Public Library have been busy with preparations.
Although, this isn’t the only thing planned for the upcoming months.
The library will join in on the St. Patrick’s Day festivities next Saturday as Tyrone celebrates Irish Heritage Week.
A trash to treasure sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the library’s community room Saturday, March 17. There will be a lot of like-new used items including: glassware, knick-knacks, toys, clocks, small appliances, bedding, decorations and more.
There will also be a children’s story hour from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday and the FBLA Club will be face painting from 2 to 5 p.m.
Then, on Saturday, March 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the library will host an Italian charm bracelet fundraiser in the community room.
Featured will be ‘R’ We Charming? Italian Charms from Aaronsburg, Pa. with over 16,000 charms on display. The charms cost $3 each, with a few select charms costing more.
Remember, the charms are small so don’t forget your glasses.
Accepted forms of payment include cash, check or credit card.
Anyone with questions about the sale can contact Lynne Nearhoof or Judie Adams at the library at 684-1133.
For those unsure of what an Italian charm is, it is a series of individual modular links hooked together on a stretchy band to form a single Italian charm bracelet. A typical Italian charm bracelet is comprised of eighteen links, but can be adjusted to fit each individual.
Designed in Italy, the Italian charm craze caught on and in the 1990s, American tourists brought the idea back to the United States.
The bracelets are personalized by replacing the blank links with individually designed Italian charms. While traditional charms dangle, Italian charms feature individual pieces soldered flat onto the surface of the link.
Italian Charms are compatible across brands due to standardized sizing and the modular design means that the charms are interchangeable and can be switched out for a new look.
The bracelets can be assembled in many styles, for example, they can be grouped to follow a theme such as family, a specific color, career or hobby.
So, if you need to add some new charms to your bracelet, want to start a bracelet or if you just want to see what Italian charms are all about, stop by the library during its Italian charm fundraiser on March 24.
