George LaVanish, local artist/illustrator, has donated two framed limited edition prints to the Women’s Club of Tyrone to support their fundraising effort to benefit orthopedic services at Tyrone Hospital.
The Women’s Club is holding their third annual dinner dance and silent auction to benefit Tyrone Hospital on Saturday, March 24 at the U.S. Hotel in Hollidaysburg.
LaVanish has illustrated stories and covers for many national and regional magazines over the past 30 years. He has designed stamps for the National Wildlife Federation and illustrated 10 outdoor books.
The larger of the two prints is entitled “Into the Wind”, and is the first of five prints in the PA Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s limited-edition print and patch series. The series is limited with only 200 collector prints and 50 artist proofs produced each year.
The smaller of the two prints is entitled “Spring Stocking” and is a tribute to the PA Fish and Boat Commission’s historical achievements and ongoing programs developed and implemented for over a century. It features the “Susquehanna” rail car, built in 1892, used for the purpose of fish stocking utilizing Pennsylvania’s railroad network.
LaVanish is the owner of Wilderness Editions, a publisher of fine art prints.
