The sixth annual Tyrone-Snyder Public Library fundraising concert is only several weeks away and those involved in the production of the show are busily at work.
“We start to work on the next concert the night after the show finishes the year before, and it seems like every year we run out of time,” said library concert chairman, Chuck Banas.
This year, the library has developed a new idea in helping to assist in the development and delivery of top notch shows that have been provided to the community.
“This year, I am extremely happy to announce that two companies have stepped forward to co-host our event,” said Banas. “American Eagle Paper Mills and Healthy Alternatives have become our first corporate business partners to step forward and co-host this event. Each year, we are faced with increased costs with the concert such as lodging, food and travel. A perfect example is being able to bring The Coasters all the way in from Los Angeles, California. In addition, in order to get additional concert attendees from out of the immediate Tyrone area, we have now been afforded the opportunity to increase our media coverage to include television. This has been great but not without an additional cost. With the development of our corporate co-host we are now able to offset the increased cost while not having to reduce the amount of funds that have been raised to pay the mortgage. I know the library needs every penny in order to continue with the program operations and at the same time meet the monthly mortgage payments on the new library building,” added Banas. “I cannot possible thank these two businesses for working with us as the first co-host for our concert series. We are looking forward to making the co-host opportunity a yearly portion of the concert series. If businesses would be interested in co-hosting next year I would love to hear from them,” Banas said.
“We at American Eagle Paper Mills feel that the library is a very important institution in the community,” said John Ferner, President and CEO of American Eagle Paper Mills. “Everyone should support the library in our community. We at American Eagle Paper Mills feel it is an extremely important entity for the entire community. The library is the building block for our youth and a recreational opportunity for many other people.”
Cindee Banas, President of Healthy Alternatives stated, “ We recognize the importance of supporting the Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library. Having fabulous resources and programs locally available depends upon strong and loyal community support. We at Healthy Alternatives are happy to support the library and the musical legends that are offered to Tyrone through these concerts. It is our hope that the library will be able to continue to provide educational and recreational opportunities for generations to come.”
This year, the library has a great line up in store for everyone. Opening for the night will be the JiveBombers. Sarah Wilson will bring the country songs to the stage next, followed by a truly amazing fourteen-year-old Vanessa Campagna, who is well on her way to stardom. The stand up comic antics of Barry St. Ives will conclude the first part of the show. The highlight of the evening will be delivered by one of the greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll groups of all time, The Coasters.
This year’s concert will be held on Saturday evening, April 21 at the Tyrone Area High School auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start promptly at 7 p.m.
“At the conclusion of the show this year we will have a meet and greet session in the lobby of the auditorium, You can bring your cameras and have you picture taken with any of the performers as well as get autographs. Some of the performers will have merchandise available for you to purchase also,” according to Banas.
Tickets may still be purchased for this year’s show at the following locations located in downtown Tyrone, Bressler’s Food Mart and Sports, Kopp Drug, and the Tyrone Snyder Public Library. Tickets may also be ordered by telephone by calling a special ticket order line at 682-1017. Please allow five days for tickets to be delivered if you are ordering by mail. All tickets are $30 each and reserved seating.
“We will also have an area blocked off in the Tyrone Area High School parking lot for handicapped parking,” added Banas.
All funds raised by the concert series have been used to help meet the mortgage payments on the new library located in downtown Tyrone. To date, the concert series has raised $46,000 towards this effort and is the library’s largest fundraising event held.
