The Little Juniata River Association will be conducting its second annual Little Juniata River Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 7 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., rain or shine.
This event is in coordination with the Great PA Cleanup and the National River Cleanup.
Plans for the day include cleaning up the trash along the riverbank from Spruce Creek to Tyrone Forge. The goal is to remove as much trash as possible, large or small, from in and along the river. This includes roadside pullouts and the riverbanks.
Gloves, bags and safety vests will be supplied to all participants. Refreshments, including hot coffee and donuts, will also be furnished prior to the cleanup, courtesy of the Spruce Creek United Methodist Church, Spruce Creek Tavern, Galliker’s Dairy and Tasty Kake Bakery.
Any persons or groups interested in helping out should meet at the Spruce Creek United Methodist Church between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
Scouts must register with Michael Yeaton or accompany their own Troop Leader or parent.
Cleanup efforts will finish at noon when everyone is invited to enjoy a meal at the church.
Lunch will be served in the church with food furnished courtesy of local merchants including, sauerkraut and hotdogs from the Spruce Creek Tavern, drinks from Galliker’s Dairy and treats from Tasty Kake Bakery.
Anyone picking up youth from this event should arrive no later than 1 p.m.
