Judith A. “Judy” Snyder, 59, of State College, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 29, 1947 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of Dorothy G. “Dot” Beckwith Stewart of Port Matilda and the late Calvin E. “Earl” Stewart, who died March 12, 2007. On July 21, 1973, she married John W. “Jack” Snyder, who survives at home.
Judy was a 1965 graduate of Tyrone High School. She was an Administrative Assistant at Penn State University, Office of Development, the Commonwealth College and previously worked at the Communication Station.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She served as Executive Director of the Cancer Survivor’s Association, Inc. which became her life’s work. The association was co-founded with her friend Janet Bowman, who died December 17, 2003.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her two sons, Jonathan B. Snyder and his fiancé Lauren of State College and Travis E. Snyder and Traci of State College and a brother, Calvin E. Stewart, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Point of Rocks, MD.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2007 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 also at Koch Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Nold and Rev. Clair Pennebaker officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
