Alfred T. (Hoot) Voyzey, 88, of Greystone Court, Tyrone, formerly of Philipsburg, died Friday, May 25, 2007 at 5:20 a.m. at Altoona Regional Health Systems-Bon Secours Campus, Altoona.
He was born November 7, 1918 in Philipsburg, a son of the late Stephen and Edna (Cushard) Voyzey.
On December 14, 1938 in Osceola Mills he married Mary J. (Thompson) Voyzey, who died October 23, 1997.
Surviving are daughters: Edna Mae Pollack Wagner and her husband John of Dillsburg and Sherry Hipp and her husband Thomas of Duncansville; sons: John A. Voyzey and his wife Susan of Cranberry, Stephen R. Voyzey and his wife Martha of Camp Hill and Larry R. Voyzey and his wife Nancy of Hollidaysburg; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister: Julia Shuffleberger; four brothers: George, Jack, Merle and Stephen Voyzey and one grandson, Stephen Ronald Voyzey.
He was a member of the Christian faith as well as the Bavarian Aid Society, Altoona and Gearhartville Sportsman’s Club.
Mr. Voyzey retired as a brakeman for Conrail after 41 years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee officiating.
Place of burial will be Centre Cemetery, rural Osceola Mills.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
