Dan Sprankle Auto spotted Hollidaysburg Hoss’s a five-run head start before coming back to manage a one-run 10-9 win in Area 4 VFW 13-14 Year Old Teener action at Ferner Field on Friday evening.
For Dan Sprankle Auto, the comeback began in the second inning. Johnny Romano’s one out double was followed by Corbin Nevling-Ray’s single for the first tally.
Trailing 5-1 in the third stanza, Robbie Marlott singled and was driven in by a two-out Tyler Glashauser double for Sprankle’s.
After Hoss’s scratched a run across in the top of the fourth, Dan Sprankle Auto came back in the home half of the fifth. Alphie Diehl led off the frame with a single, followed by another base hit by Marlott. Diehl was able to score on a groundball, that was mishandled off the bat of Glashauser. Johnny Romano followed with a single to score Marlott. Nevling-Ray doubled down the line to score both Glashauser and Romano. Corbin-Ray came home on a passed ball to give Dan Sprankle Auto their first lead of the game 7-6.
Korry Cowher walked and Kaleb Chronister beat out an infield single and both scored when Seth Barrett’s shot to left was misplayed. Marlott plated Barrett with a single to complete the rally with Dan Sprankle Auto up 10-6.
Hoss’s scored twice in the top of the sixth and once more in the seventh, to make it very interesting, but Glashauser struck out Hoss’s Dodson for the final out of the game. Corbin Nevling-Ray and Robbie Marlott led Sprankles Auto with three-hit games, and Johnny Romano and Kaleb Chronister each added two hits. Seth Barrett and Nevling-Ray each drove in a pair of runs as Dan Sprankle Auto evened their record at 4-4.
