Summer is often a busy time for area church with church picnics, fund raisers and vacation Bible schools often in the works.
Christ United Methodist Church’s summer schedule begins this Sunday, June 3, when 12 new members will be received into the church family.
Summer office hours at the church have already started. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. In case of emergency when the office is closed individuals may contact Administrative Assistant Sue O’Brien.
Also during June, those individuals not able to join church members at worship services are invited to tune into WTRN 1340 AM for the live broadcast of worship service at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. Also in June, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce will be collected for the food bank. Place donations on the Mission Table and items will be taken to the Food Bank at various times throughout the month.
The church’s annual yard sale is slated for Saturday, June 16 this year. The sale will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 2 p.m.
The kitchen will be under the leadership of Del “Screech” Hamer and the Willing Workers Class will hold a bake sale.
The Yard Sale Planning Committee is asking interested individuals to bring items in for this annual fundraiser. They are asking for things that are “clean and in relatively good condition”, but are not accepting clothing.
Donated items may be brought to the church during regular office hours and should be taken to the Scout Hall.
Anyone with questions about the sale can contact Rita and Ernie Dick at 684-0718.
And finally, Christ United Methodist Church will join together with Wesley United Methodist and the Church of the Brethren to sponsor vacation Bible school from Monday, July 23 through Friday, July 27.
The theme is “Avalanche Ranch” and activities will be held at Christ United from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Elementary children through sixth grade will travel with t heir “ranch crews” to sing and play stampede, Chadders’ Wild West Theater, Wild Bible Adventures, cowpoke crafts and missions, horseplay games, chuck wagon chow and showtime roundup.
Children ages three to five-years-old will participate in the “Prairie Dog” preschool program.
Plan now to have children join in for a week of fun, memorable Bible learning activities.
