On many occasions, high schools will have a set of twins in their graduating class.
What are the chances that both of these twins will be ranked first and second in the class at the end of the year, thus, becoming the class Valedictorian and Salutatorian?
Most people would probably say that the chances of that happening are slim to none. Most people may also say that the chances of both twins making a very positive impact on their peers and the school as a whole is also very slim to none.
However, two young ladies in the Tyrone Area High School Class of 2007 proved that there are exceptions to everything.
Twin sisters, Caitlinn and Jenna Dillon, who will receive their high school diplomas at the Tyrone Area High School Commencement ceremonies June 8 will be a little more involved in the commencement ceremonies than just walking across the stage to receive their diplomas.
That is because Caitlinn is ranked first her class and has achieved the honor of being the Valedictorian of the Tyrone Area High School Class of 2007. Jenna, her twin sister, is ranked second in her class and has achieved the honor of being Tyrone Area High School Class of 2007’s Salutatorian. Both will be speaking at this year’s commencement. One fact that definitely deserves mentioning is that these two young ladies achieved the high ranking of first and second in a class of 138 students.
During their years at Tyrone Area High School, Jenna and Caitlinn also have been actively involved in their school and made a very positive impact on their fellow students and the school as a whole.
Both Caitlinn and Jenna were involved in the Academic Academy program at Tyrone Area High School for advanced placement students. Both were also involved in the National Honor Society and French Club at Tyrone Area High School, along with participating in the Upward Bound college preparation program at St. Francis University.
However, Caitlinn and Jenna’s involvement in other organizations at Tyrone Area High School is quite different.
Caitlinn is actively involved in Key Club, serving as the organization’s Treasurer and was named Captain of the Golden Eagle Girls Tennis Team her senior year.
Jenna’s interests included many areas in Tyrone’s music department. She has been actively involved in the TAHS Golden Eagle Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands. She had served as her section leader in band since her sophomore year. She has also been a member of the TAHS Concert Choir and was inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society, where she served as Vice President of this organization.
Due to their achievements, both academically and in other organizations, the Dillons received several honors during their high school years.
Along with becoming the class Valedictorian, Caitlinn received scholarships from the Kiwanis, Rotary, and Penn State University. She was also one of the senior athletes honored at the recent all sports banquet. Jenna received scholarships from Delta Kappa Gamma, the Mary E. Cornmesser Scholarship, and the Chapter 11 Tournament of Bands Scholarship. Jenna also received the John Philip Sousa Band Award and the Semper Fidelis Band Award presented to an outstanding musician. She also achieved the honor of attending regional band in grades 10, 11, and 12.
The daughters of Don Jr. and Julie Dillon of Tyrone, Caitlinn and Jenna will both be attending Penn State University Main Campus next fall. Caitlinn is in the process of deciding on her major and Jenna is going to major in Music Education. She was also one of four clarinets selected for Penn State’s College of Music.
Congratulations to Caitlinn, Jenna, and to all of the graduates in the Tyrone Area High School Class of 2007. Best of luck in all of their future endeavors.
