Looking for a great deal on a new pet? The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society has a special “seasonal offering” to help kittens find new, loving homes.
The shelter is temporarily suspending the adoption fee for kittens less than one year old. Adopters must still put down a $75 spay/neuter deposit and must make arrangements with a veterinarian for the procedure. Following confirmation of the spay/neuter, owners will have their deposit returned. The shelter will also provide the first series of vaccinations and rabies shots at no cost to the new pet owners.
Administrators at the shelter decided to make this special offer after reviewing cat and kitten adoption rates versus the number of incoming felines.
“In the spring and summer months we are inundated with litters of kittens and the sad fact is, we just don’t have enough interest in all of them,” said Ingrid Healy, CPHS Director of Operations.
“With this new program, we’re giving people an incentive to help give a kitten a good home for life and save some money at the same time.”
For more information about the program, contact the shelter at 942-5402.
Shelter hours are: 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. On Friday the shelter extends hours from 12:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. The shelter is closed on Wednesdays.
