Mabel R. (Cherry) Miller, 87, of 212 E. 12th St., Tyrone died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 8:30 p.m. at her residence.
She was born December 15, 1919 in Broad Top Twp., Bedford County, a daughter of Ira Frank and Ida Mae (Weight) Spencer. She was twice married, first to John E. Cherry on November 6, 1940 at Six Mile Run. He died March 17, 1983. She then married Harry M. Miller on August 8, 1988 in Petersburg. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2004.
Surviving are four daughters, Ruth A. Riling and husband Bob of Tyrone, Eleanor Vandevander and husband Ron of Tipton, Brenda J. Hite and husband Terry of Tipton and Fay A. Price of Tyrone, two sons, Ronald E. Cherry of Altoona and Ralph E. Cherry and wife Donna of Tipton, two sisters, Anna Mae Zeillinger of Westland, Michigan, Joan Kyper and husband Martin of Huntingdon and three brothers Harold (Pete) Spencer and wife Dorothy of Pueblo, Colorado, Ralph Spencer and wife Gay of Fowlersville, Michigan and James Spencer of Tuscon, Arizona. In addition she is survived by an extended family and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son John L. Cherry, two brothers, Wilmer Spencer of Florida, Chester Spencer of Huntingdon and two sisters Julia Phipps of Six Mile Run and Betty Spencer of Huntingdon.
Mrs. Miller attended the Tipton Baptist Church. She had been a member of the Woman’s Senior Bowling League at Splinter’s, Altoona and was formerly employed at Long’s Bakery, Tyrone.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home with Pastor John T. Pine officiating. Interment will follow at Charlottesville Cemetery, Antis Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
