The Martin Oil/Dick’s Pharmacy federation game was halted by lightening and then by rain in the bottom of the third inning at Geesey Park in Altoona on Friday evening.
Martin Oil took a 4-0 lead before the host Dick’s Pharmacy even got to bat. Brian Hostler opened the game with a single, stole second base and scored on a single by Trey Mock. Nate Gray ripped a double to drive home Mock and then scored one batter later when Justin Manning rapped the second two-bagger in a row. With one down, Earnie Kelley scored Manning with a sacrifice fly that was dropped.
Mock singled and scored a run in the second on a Manning RBI single, then scored again when Gray slugged a grand slam in the third inning. Cameron Watters singled and was replaced by Jimmy Watters, and Chad Coho lined a single past the third baseman before Mock walked to load the bases and set up the scene for Gray.
Dick’s Pharmacy scored a pair of unearned runs in the second, with Gray on the mound for Martin Oil, on two errors, two walks and a hit batsman.
When the game will be picked up at the point the umpires called the game, Martin Oil will have a 9-2 lead with a runner on base and a one ball, one strike count on the Dick’s Pharmacy batter
